Pak n' Save - Mt Albert

Foodstuffs North Island engaged Tailor Inc. to provide project management for a major civil works project at their Pak’n Save Mt Albert site. The scope included demolishing two neighbouring residential properties to accommodate an expanded
carpark and Click & Collect facility.
Additionally, the project involved upgrading and extending the truck dock to reduce congestion on New North Road and increase on-site freight handling capacity. Key components of the works included two large canopy extensions and extensive retaining walls.
A significant challenge encountered during construction was the discovery of a large basalt rock deposit beneath the proposed carpark area. Further complexity arose when the store operator requested an accelerated program to enable customer access through the carpark three months ahead of Practical Completion (PC).
Midway through the project, the project management team developed strategic staging solutions to balance the operator’s requirements with contractor timelines, ensuring a phased opening while maintaining construction efficiency.
