All Birds & Friends - Britomart

Tailor Inc. has crafted the new ‘Allbirds & Friends’ flagship store in Britomart with a design that embodies sustainability through thoughtful material selection and adaptive reuse. The ‘& Friends’ section introduces brands such as Cotopaxi, Hydroflask, and Nocs, each aligned with Allbirds’ commitment to sustainability and innovative design. Base elements of the existing tenancy, including the ceiling and timber flooring, were revitalised, while a layered lighting scheme—combining repurposed and new LED fixtures—brings warmth, depth, and a dynamic ambiance to the space.

Contrasting black detailing grounds the design and enhances visual appeal, while bespoke facetted walls with concealed lightingand a custom fixture system provide flexible display options. The store moves away from a traditional point-of-sale counter, enabling staff to engage customers directly throughout the space. Tailor Inc. also provided full client-side project management, overseeing the contractor, budget, and programme, ensuring the design was delivered on time, on budget, and to the client’s exacting standards.

Signature Allbirds elements such as mirrors, chairs, signage, and display plinths were repurposed to minimise waste, while sustainable new materials like cork and timber add warmth and texture. Positioned on a prominent corner site in Britomart, the design naturally draw scustomers from Takutai Square, highlighting both the products and the store’s sustainable ethos.
