Alma named winner of the Architecture Award for hospitality!

We are ecstatic to share restaurant Alma, a highly acclaimed Auckland favourite, was recently named the Winner of the Architecture Award for hospitality, by a jury of 5 prestige Architects.

Despite a number of complexities arising from the building being heritage listed, the collaboration between HipGroup and Jack McKinney Architects proved to be one of immense success; Whereby Tailor Inc assisted with design, delivery and budget, as well as facilitating significant project deliverables on the client side.

The restaurant, located on the ground floor of Britomart’s Maritime building, draws on Spanish culture from cuisine to design. The name ‘Alma’ means to feed the soul and lift the spirit, and Tailor Inc ensured that this was central to the final restaurant that was opened and presented. The inside, as described by MetroMag is “dark and cosy” incorporating this Southern Spain influence “with terracotta tiles behind the bar and intimate window booths that look out on the street” alongside a woodfire burner.

HipGroups high commendations of the team Tailor Inc. being “professional” having “great attention to detail” and acknowledgement that they would definitely work with us in the future, are a testament to the decades of experience and skill within the company.
